Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened: The base of the dip, providing that creamy texture we all love.
- 1/2 cup sour cream: Adds tanginess and lightens the richness of the cream cheese.
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise: Contributes to the smooth consistency while adding flavor depth.
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese: Melts beautifully to create a gooey, stretchy texture.
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese: Adds a sharp, nutty flavor that complements the mushrooms.
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion: Adds a subtle sweetness and depth to the dip.
- 3 cloves garlic, minced: Enhances the overall flavor with a hint of sharpness and spice.
- 16 oz (450g) mushrooms, finely chopped: The star of the dip—mushrooms provide that rich, earthy flavor.
- 1 tablespoon olive oil: Used for sautéing the onions and mushrooms, adding a subtle fruity flavor.
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley: Adds brightness and freshness, balancing the richness of the cheeses.
- Salt and pepper, to taste: Season the dip to your liking to enhance all the flavors.
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your dip will cook evenly and come out with a perfectly golden top.
Prepare the Mushrooms
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and garlic to the skillet, and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until the onions are translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
- Add the finely chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook for about 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and most of the liquid has evaporated. This step is crucial to avoid a watery dip.
- Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding it to the rest of the ingredients.
Mix the Dip
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Add the cooked mushroom mixture, 1 1/2 cups of the shredded mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup of the grated Parmesan cheese, and the chopped parsley. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are fully combined.
Transfer to Baking Dish
- Transfer the dip mixture into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly to ensure it bakes uniformly.
- Top the dip with the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese and the rest of the Parmesan cheese. This will create that irresistible golden, cheesy crust.
Bake the Dip
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly and the top is a golden brown.
- You can check by gently jiggling the dish to see if the center is set and by looking for the browned cheese on top.
Serve and Enjoy!
- Once done, remove from the oven and garnish with additional chopped parsley, if desired.
- Serve the stuffed mushroom dip while it’s still hot with a selection of dippers such as:
- Crackers
- Toasted bread slices
- Fresh vegetables like carrots, celery, or bell pepper strips
